Day 31 - Back and Biceps

Yesterday was Amy's birthday!  We had a great time celebrating her birthday....Drew made his mama a sweet card with pictures and crayons.  Back and biceps was the workout for the day - the first time I've done that one.  It was a nice focused workout....I can see that I'm getting back on track.  Here's the menu for the day:

Day 29 - Chest, Shoulders & Triceps / Ab Ripper X

Monday started week 5 of P90X.  Last week was a low intensity week....a transition from part 1 of the program to part 2.  I'm excited about getting back in the groove and hitting it hard.  My goal during this next part of the program is to complete all of the workouts, eat healthy without cheating and maybe adding some more cardio beyond the program.  I'd like to be down around 185 by Day 60 which would be down 7 more pounds in 5 weeks - very doable.

My menu for the day was:

Days 19-28

I haven't stopped this program, I promise.  I've been battling a sinus infection and some poison oak for the past few days.  Luckily, this week is a low intensity rest week, so in that respect it is good timing.

I'm at 192 lbs....down 7 in 28 days, which I'm proud of.

I'm excited to start back up this afternoon!

Day 17 & 18- Shoulders and Arms / Ab Ripper X / Cardio X

On Wednesday, we decided to take Drew to his first baseball game!  It was so much fun and he had a blast taking in all of the sights and sounds of America's pastime.  He really liked eating the popcorn, peanuts, dippin dots ice cream, and his very own hot dog!  He is a little hoover.  Papa bought him a Rangers shirt and we got him a Rangers hat....he looks so cute in it.  Texas beat Detroit 11-7.  Because we went to the game, I had to bump this workout to yesterday along with Cardio X.  I hung in there and made it through both!

As a progress update, I've lost the following:

7 pounds
3/4" off my neck
1" off my waist
2" of my belly
2" off my chest

Day 14 - Off Day (Kenpo pushed one more day)

Ok, so yesterday was supposed to be Kenpo day as I decided to swap my rest day for Saturday, but I just completely forgot about it.  So now I get to do a double-header today: Kenpo and then Chest & Back w/ Ab Ripper X. We did alot more work around the house (installed new motion activated flood light, sealed deck, sealed, stained & reinforced swing, sealed Drew's outdoor bench, cleaned out garage, more landscaping, etc.).  So there was a lot of sweating and a lot of calories burned.  Despite that, I have to get back on track today.  I felt like I didn't do bad this weekend in terms of the nutrition aspect, but I could've done better.

My menu for the day was:

Breakfast: protein square
Snack: protein bar
Lunch: Amy's beef stew
Dinner: Grilled Chicken Sandwich & a few fries (I know, not good)
Snack: Yogurt

Total Calories: 1,850

Day 13 - Off Day (Kenpo pushed till tomorrow)

Saturday was supposed to be Kenpo day which is always my favorite but there were just not enough hours in the day today.  Dad and I looked at a few potential houses to flip that morning and then in the afernoon, we revitalized the landscaping around our house.  So even though I didn't get the workout in, we worked alot (which is still not an excuse, I know)!

My menu for the day was:

Breakfast: Homemade smoothie w/ protein powder
Snack: protein bar
Lunch: CFA Southwest Salad
Dinner: Gloria's fajitas with too many chips
Snack: Yogurt
Total Calories: 2,450
Calories burned from yardwork: 400
Net: 2,050

Day 12 - Legs and Back / Ab Ripper X

Friday was legs and back which is always painful....by the end of the workout my knees were knocking and I was drenched from head to toe!  I'm over my cold now so I feel like this was a really good workout.  The good news is, I'm not sore anymore like I was for the first week of P90X.  I can tell my body is getting used to being pushed to the limit and I can also tell that I am sleeping much better at night....although the previous 2 nights were probably on account of Nyquil.  I like when I am able to complete my workout in the morning...it just makes it easier.

Yesterday, my Dad and I had a workout in and of itself by picking up and setting up a new king size bed for Amy and me.  Since we got a new king bed, our old queen bed went to our guest room and the double bed that was in there had to be moved.  So moving 3 beds was a great additional workout!

When I got out of the shower after my workout today, I was at 191.8, which is absolutely amazing....it's been a long time since I've seen that.

My menu for the day was:

Breakfast: Homemade Smoothie w/ Protein powder, 200 cal
Lunch: Chick-fil-a Southwest Salad
Snack: Pure Protein Square, raisins
Dinner: Saltgrass Chicken Sandwich & Steamed Veggies / a few onion strings 1000 cal
Snack: Yogurt 100 cal

Total Calories:1,950
Calories burned from P90X: 600
Net Calories:1,350

Saturday is Kenpo (martial arts - punching, kicking, blocking) which has become my favorite workout!

Day 10 - Shoulders and Arms / Ab Ripper X

Still getting over my cold and that has made working out tough, but I keep going! Yesterday was Shoulders and Arms with Ab Ripper X - a 1 hr. 15 minute workout.  I made it through the Shoulders and Arms workout just fine (not that it was easy) but the Ab Ripper just about did me in.  My menu for the day was:

Day 9 - Plyometrics

So I officially have a cold which makes working out even more challenging.  But for some odd reason, when I am working out, my cold isn't as bad.  Today, my Dad came into town and he decided to try the hardest of all P90X workouts with me - plyometrics.  We both completed the workout and were absolutely drenched.  He's in town for 10 days so he will probably get a taste of each of the workouts!  I can't taste anything right now which makes it easier to resist snacking....my menu for the day was:

Breakfast: Protein square 200 cal
Snack: Pure Protein Bar - 20g protein, 200 cal
Lunch: Healthy Choice Chicken Soup, Baked Doritos (1 oz.)
Snack: a few raisins

Day 8 - Chest and Back / Ab Ripper X

I slept awful last night and this morning I woke up with either bad allergies or a cold.  Amy, Drew & I had a fun day together running around and we are excited about Papa coming into town for a little while tomorrow.  Today's workout was tough because I don't feel like I'm at 100 %, but I still gave it all I had and completed the intense workout.  Here's what I ate:

Breakfast: Homemade Smoothie (1 cup frozen berry medley, 8 oz. skim milk, 4 oz. non-fat yogurt, 1 scoop of Body Fortress Protein, 1 scoop of Muscadine Grape Powder all blended in my handy Magic Bullet) - 30g protein, 200 cal, turkey bacon

Day 7 - Day Off

Sundays will always be my day off since I started this program on Monday and I like it that way.  Amy, Drew & I went to our favorite restaurant, Gloria's, to celebrate me completing my first week of P90X with no skips.  I'm really proud of myself for staying committed each day not only with the DVD's but also with the nutrition plan.    Here's what my menu was:

Breakfast: Protein Square
Lunch: Grilled Chicken Sandwich from whataburger w/ a side salad
Snack: Pure protein bar

Snack: chocolate non-fat yogurt

I just finished today's workout - Kenpo X. Kenpo X is a workout with a martial arts theme and it covers punches, kicks, blocks, and combos of these.  I really enjoy this workout and if I ever get into a fight, I should be in good shape.  Since Day 7 is rest day, I have completed the 1st of 12 weeks of P90X and I feel really good about that.  Here's what I ate:

Breakfast: Homemade Smoothie (1 cup frozen berry medley, 8 oz. skim milk, 4 oz. non-fat yogurt, 1 scoop of Body Fortress Protein, 1 scoop of Muscadine Grape Powder all blended in my handy Magic Bullet) - 30g protein, 200 cal, turkey bacon

Day 4 - Cardio X

Yesterday was technically supposed to be Yoga X, but they said that you can substitute Cardio X for this one.  The first 15 minutes of Cardio X is actually Yoga, so you get a little of that anyway.  After the 15 min of Yoga, I was drenched.  The rest of the workout was some really good cardio.  Amy did this workout with me which I really enjoyed :).  My menu for the day was:

Breakfast: Pure Protein Oatmeal Square 200 cal, 10g proteen

Day 3 - Shoulders and Arms / Ab Ripper X

Still sore.  I'm pretty sure I'll be like this for a while, but that is fine because I know progress is being made and my body is becoming a calorie-burning machine!  Yesterday was Shoulders and Arms with Ab Ripper X - a 1 hr. 15 minute workout.  I made it through the Shoulders and Arms workout just fine (not that it was easy) but the Ab Ripper just about did me in.  My menu for the day was:

Breakfast: Homemade Smoothie (1 cup frozen berry medley, 8 oz. skim milk, 4 oz. non-fat yogurt, 1 scoop of Body Fortress Protein, 1 scoop of Muscadine Grape Powder all blended in my handy Magic Bullet) - 30g protein, 200 cal, Turkey Bacon

Day 2 - Plyometrics

SORE!!!!  That's how I woke up this morning....it's that "good" sore though, the kind that shows you've accomplished something.  I jumped on the scales this morning and I'm at 194.5...down 4.5 lbs. in two days.    Yesterday, like all Tuesdays and Thursdays on P90X, was a cardio based workout: Plyometrics. Plyometrics is basically jump-training, using jumping motions and leg focused balance exercises to get a great leg workout and a killer cardio workout. Honestly, this is one of the hardest workouts I've ever completed.  I barely survived the workout - this one really makes your joints hurt no matter how softly you land from the jumps.  I was drenched in sweat by the end, but it was definitely worth it.  Overall, it was a great workout and I am proud of myself.  To add to my calorie-burning efforts I played racquetball.  My menu for the day was:

Breakfast: Homemade Smoothie (1 cup frozen berry medley, 8 oz. skim milk, 4 oz. non-fat yogurt, 1 scoop of Body Fortress Protein, 1 scoop of Muscadine Grape Powder all blended in my handy Magic Bullet) - 30g protein, 200 cal
Snack: Pure Protein Bar - 20g protein, 200 cal
Lunch: P90X Turkey Chili with peppers, onions, beans, and tomatoes and 1 cup steamed veggies
Snack: 1/4 cup raisins, 15 almonds
Dinner: Southwest Chargrilled Salad with Lowfat Berry Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing
Snack: Dreyers Frozen Strawberry Bar
Post-Workout: Body Fortress Protein Shake - 26g protein, 105 cal

Total Calories:1,465
Calories burned from P90X: 600
Calories burned from Racquetball: 300
Net: 565
